Hair Restoration Laboratories Review – DHT Blocking Shampoo?

Hey girls! It's Monday, which means a new hair loss post. Today I am going to be reviewing the Hair Restoration Laboratories DHT blocking hair loss shampoo. Back when I was going through my Hair Loss issues, this DHT Blocking Hair Loss Shampoo from Restoration Laboratories wasn't the first shampoo I tried. It took a couple of months before If I recall correctly, stumbled upon a YouTube video reviewing it.
Hair Restoration Laboratories LLC, a company from Voorhees Township New Jersey, are the people behind it. On their website for sale, they currently have "Ultra Strength Hair Regrowth Treatment", "Hair Restore Shampoo & Conditioner Set", "Professional Strength Hair Restore Shampoo", "Hair Restore Conditioner" and finally the product I bought and tried. The Hair Restore Shampoo.
Today I will just be going over their hair loss shampoos that have the DHT Blocking compounds and not the other ones that use Minoxidil. Their hair shampoos are, of course suitable for both men and women, but this review will come from my experiences as a female with hair loss.
How the Shampoo & Conditioner Works
I had no idea what Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) was back at the start of my journey, and I still don't....
Only Joking!! I understand the basics now. DHT is one of the main reasons a woman might start losing her hair Let me explain.
Everyday 10% of a women's Testosterone is converted into DHT via the ovaries and skin. It is the cause of the first pubic hair growth in a girl during puberty.
If an adult woman has too much Testosterone converted to DHT, then the DHT can start causing the hair follicles causing your hair to fall out, and thus hair loss can become an unfortunate factor as a result of DHT. Using a DHT blocking hair loss shampoo can be sure-fire fix if that is your main issue.
You might be wondering why you're producing too much Testosterone, but the fact is for most girls they are just genetically more prone, and it's not a result of lifestyle decisions. The process is way more technical than I described, but that is the basics of female hair loss from DHT.

5 Star Hair Restoration Review On Amazon
When you visit their product pages, you will notice the 5-star reviews. It is straightforward to fake these though so I don't trust them. They also have Google Reviews, but again, I don't trust them.
Thankfully they have products listed on Amazon for their DHT blocking hair loss shampoo. I trust the reviews here because they are much harder to fake. They have a 4 out of 5 rating from over 760 reviews, and to their credit, the reviews are pretty good.

1 star Hair Restoration Review
There was one negative review there, but you should know that their DHT blocking shampoo won't work for every single person. If your Hair Loss isn't caused by DHT then it is likely their DHT hair loss products probably won't work.

5 Star Hair Restoration Amazon Reviews
Since first writing this review, Hair Restoration Laboratories has continued to build a loyal following. In the first week of November 2021 they have received multiple 5 star reviews. They mention that Hair Restoration Laboratories smells great, is sulfate free and helped them achieve less hair breakage.
Hair Restoration Laboratories Ingredients
Just like in my first review, I am going to look at all of the individual ingredients inside this DHT blocking hair loss shampoo and see if I can find anything interesting.
Although there are over 30 ingredients, I am just going to cover the 15 DHT blocking ones that I think are most important.
The other ingredients I am not covering are all free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, silicone, & harsh chemicals. I will be using this resource to check if the ingredients can inhibit DHT blocking growth.
1) Argania Spinosa Kernel Argan oil
This is a fruit and provides the Argan Oil, which of course is excellent for hair (1). Argan Oil has Oleic Acid & Linoleic Acid, which can block DHT growth (2).
2) Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
Diets with consumption of Vitamin E have shown to decrease the risk of various cancers (3). For hair, it doesn't block DHT but does have anti-inflammatory effects (4) which can help with hair loss if that is your cause.
3) Camellia Japonica Seed Oil
I know that this oil from Japan has benefits as an Antioxidant, but I couldn't find any studies on its impact on DHT Blocking. Camellia oil does, however, provide Palmitic and Omega-6 Linoleic fatty acids, which are an excellent moisturizer of the skin & hair (5).
4) Soy Isoflavones
This is an unusual ingredient since Soy foods contain Isoflavones which mimic estrogen. Higher estrogen and lower Testosterone can inhibit DHT (6.) Soy Bean Oil also contains Linoleic Acid, which is an excellent DHT blocker (7).
5) Rosemarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil
Rosemary Oil is one of the best natural blockers of DHT oil out there, and there was a great study done on mice that proved its effects for hair (8).
6) Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract
Doesn't block DHT but is excellent for hair growth since it contains polysaccharides (9). This fights inflammation and contains fatty acids which, as mentioned previously, helps as a moisturizer.
7) Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract
There are reliable well-conducted studies out there that show Polygonum Multifolorum Root is beneficial for hair growth using the dermal papilla cells (10).
8) Nicotinic Acid/Niacin
There was an excellent piece of research done (11) that showed it's effects on the hair. It doesn't appear to block DHT but can help with inflammation on the scalp.
9) Citrus Medica Limonum Oil
Not a DHT inhibitor and not a lot of research for hair care. It is rich in Vitamin C t, which helps with collagen, and that is beneficial for hair growth (12).
10) Salvia Miltiorrhiza Root Extract
I read a post that said for hair growth, the follicles should receive highly oxygenated blood, and it said this extract does a whole lot of positive things for blood. According to another well-done study, it showed it did not affect blood pressure (13).
11) Biotin (Vitamin H)
Vitamin H does not affect DHT, but I know it does promote hair growth based on a study done on women with thinning hair (14). It is worth noting though that the Vitamin H was taken as an oral supplement.
12) Hibiscus Rosa-sinensis Extract
An interesting study was done on albino rats that did show more potency hair growth throughout a 30 day trial (15).
13) β-sitosterol
Beta-Sitosterol is perhaps the most beneficial and exciting ingredient for hair. It can stop Testosterone from converting into DHT, which has been confirmed scientifically (16).
14) Ligusticum Chuanxiong Root Extract
I can't find any useful information on this ingredient for hair growth. Some people believe it helps with hair loss, but I can't back that up.
15) Nigella Sativa Oil (Black seed oil)
OMG FINALLY! The last ingredient in this hair restoration laboratories review. Black Seed Oil has shown to benefit the hair for growth but not by blocking DHT (17).
My Experience With Hair Restoration Laboratories

I decided to order the Shampoo & Conditioner Set, which is currently priced at $44.95. It took about 1 week to arrive at my address, and everything was sealed nicely. I opened the box straight away, and since it was the morning, I decided to hop in the shower and use the products right there and then.
DHT Blocking Hair Loss Shampoo boasts of good thickness and lather, and it didn't tingle or burn when leaving it on my scalp for the recommended three to five minutes.
Through my trials of hair loss treatment and usage of DHT blockers, I have finally realized that DHT is, without doubt, the main nasty reason behind the majority of hair loss and that was the case for me! It only took me 6 months and hundreds of dollars wasted to find out lol.
I think that it is far better to use something containing DHT blockers rather than use something containing nothing. This is why I would endorse others to use this shampoo, particularly for individuals on a tight budget who would never be able to afford its super expensive mainstream counterparts.
This bottle of shampoo will last 2 to 4 months, depending on the length of your hair, giving you even more value. I used it on my extremely long hair, and one bottle lasted nearly two months which is fairly long time compared to other shampoo's.
This excellent hair loss treatment is the best option for people on a tight budget. Some other similar shampoos cost more than $50 for a much smaller bottle, which can put people off, especially those on a tight budget, to the extent that they do not opt for any treatment which is sad imo.
The icing on the cake is that you get a huge bottle for the price. Most other hair shampoo conditioner bottles are available in the 8-10 ounce range instead of 16 ounces.
Final Thoughts & Coupon Code
For best hair results, combine this hair treatment with other methods.
For example, if you are already taking a powerful hair-loss supplement, you can use this hair shampoo conditioner to get faster, better and more effective hair growth results.

The Bottom Line: Should You Buy It?

Hair Restoration Laboratories clearly works and is trusted by many.
Their product is real and not a scam.
With that being said, my recent experiments show that it falls behind the high standards set by Folexin (my recommendation) which you might have seen online already.
Folexin is cheaper than Hair Restoration labs, is natural and is easier to use.
Most importantly, the hair growth results I experienced from Folexin were the best which is why it is my number 1 recommendation right now.
I think this is the only legitimate shampoo out there right now personally. I had good hair growth results after 1 month
